EchoCP: An Echocardiography Dataset in Contrast Transthoracic Echocardiography for Patent Foramen Ovale Diagnosis

Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a potential separation between the septum, primum and septum secundum located in anterosuperior portion of atrial septum. PFO one main factors causing cryptogenic stroke which fifth leading cause death United States. For diagnosis, contrast transthoracic echocardiography (cTTE) preferred as being more robust method compared with others. However, current diagnosis through cTTE extremely slow it proceeded manually by sonographers on videos. Currently there no publicly available dataset for this important topic community. In paper, we present EchoCP, first targeting diagnosis. EchoCP consists 30 patients both rest Valsalva maneuver videos covers various grades. We further establish an automated baseline based state-of-the-art cardiac chamber segmentation technique, achieves 0.89 average mean Dice score, but only 0.70/0.67 accuracies leaving large room improvement. hope that challenging can stimulate research lead to innovative generic solutions would have impact multiple domains.
